Frequently Asked Questions

Spaced repetition is a learning technique that schedules reviews at increasing intervals. When you answer a card correctly, you'll see it less frequently. When you struggle with a card, you'll see it more often. PhysicsFlash uses the SM-2 algorithm, the same system used by millions of students worldwide. This approach is scientifically proven to move information into long-term memory more efficiently than traditional studying.

Again: You forgot the answer or got it wrong. The card will be shown again soon.
Hard: You remembered but it was difficult. The interval will increase slightly.
Good: You remembered correctly with normal effort. Standard interval increase.
Easy: You recalled instantly with no hesitation. Larger interval increase.

Be honest with your ratings! Accurate self-assessment is key to effective learning.

We recommend starting with 10-20 new cards per day. This keeps your review load manageable as cards accumulate. You can adjust this in Settings. Remember: consistency beats intensity. It's better to study 15 minutes daily than to cram for hours once a week.

Yes! Tap the + button in any deck to add your own cards, or create entirely new decks. You can add questions, answers, explanations, hints, and tags. Creating your own cards is a great way to reinforce learning - the act of formulating questions helps encode information in your memory.

Standard: Reviews due cards using spaced repetition. Best for daily studying.

Study Tips for Success

Study Daily

Even 10-15 minutes daily is more effective than long sessions once a week. Build a habit!

Be Honest

Rate cards honestly. Clicking "Good" when you struggled hurts your learning in the long run.

Read Explanations

Don't skip the explanations! Understanding "why" helps you remember better than rote memorization.

Make Your Own

Creating your own cards reinforces learning. Try adding cards from your lectures and textbooks.

Review Before Bed

Studies show reviewing before sleep improves memory consolidation. Perfect for a quick study session!

Keep Your Streak

Use the streak feature as motivation. Don't break the chain!
